Kentucky Reflections

I just finished some time with my three grandchildren while Mom and Dad were away and want to report the following;

Target has a wonderful toy department that can be visited numerous times in 1 week
Homework gets in the way of real fun.
Food disappears very quickly.
I am glad I don't have to buy the groceries.
#3 knows all of the words to 'God Bless America'.
Rockets and flying things are definitely big fun.
There are rules to owning and operating flying things. Number 3 makes & keeps the rules.
Girls are not allowed in the Rocket Club.
Max and Erma's, Dairy Queen, Boom Bozz and Cracker Barrel are favorites of #1, 2, and 3.
3 boys that have been playing outside and running around have a very 'natural' scent.
Hugs and kisses are good for a grandma's soul and you can't quite get enough of them.
When are the parents leaving again?

THE BIRDS

In the usually sunny and warm state of California, many birds come to enjoy the mild winter. This past week has seen temperatures in the 20's and 30's and even the birds have had a difficult time. I went to a unique store called Wild Birds Unlimited (that should tell you right there what is coming) I bought a little bag of this and a small package of that and promptly came home and placed it outside. Within minutes, there were hundreds of birds calling, arguing and flittering. I have never seen so many birds. Now, each morning, I am greeted by a few hundred of my best friends waiting to eat. They are an impressive group and even my cats are afraid. I think one of my children told me I couldn't be mother nature......I'll just feed them til the food is gone.

New Things

It seems that with a new year, I should be thrilled to be doing a few new things to our home. Indecision has surrounded and crippled me. Yes, I have a decorator who thus far has managed to eek out about 2 helpful things. In the meantime, we have scraped ceilings, selected paint and repainted and now I am about to take the plunge and select new carpeting. Oh the agony of this decision. The selections are endless and the more I see, the more I like.
I did buy two nightstands for our bedroom that I thought were great. When the decorator saw them she said "Are you finished shopping without me" I think I know why older people live in homes that are all dated and need redecorating. It must be because they can't stand to make a final decision. (I used to lose my temper with people like this)

I am eager to visit my family in Kentucky and can't wait to see them. The children eagerly await my arrival so we can do "Grandma" things every day. The youngest has a list so long that I don't think we can complete it but we will try. Grandpa (aka reinforcements) arrive a few days after I do so I know we will all stay busy. It gives me a break from the "new" home makeover.
